A series of recitals held in conjunction with Carrie Mae Weems's The Shape of Things exhibition. Pride of place must go to Friday night's collaboration between jazz keyboard genius Vijay Iyer and visionary jazz/Sufi vocalist Arooj Aftab. But African-jazz singer Somi (on Thursday) and the duo of vocalist Lisa Fischer and drummer Terri Lyne Carrington (on Saturday) are not to be disregarded.

MAKE A NIGHT: Nice neighborhood (but remember the neighborhood!) French at Sel et Poivre.
