Percussionist/composer Matt Evans plays in two of my favorite bands — Tigue and Bearthoven — and his solo projects are pretty fine, too. So of course this collaboration with the NYU Alt Classical collective gets a very hearty nod.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: dRUMmer Boy: pour 2-1/2 oz. Gold Rum, 3/4 oz. dry Vemrouth, and 2 teaspoons of Maple Syrup, with 4 dashes of orange bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into an Old Fashioned glass over ice. Garnish with an orange twist.
