Master pianist Julia Den Boer does a solo recital featuring a lot of composers whose names come up on this List with some frequency (one accompanying at a drag performance art show last week!). I'll just mention one, Linda Catlin Smith, cuz her dusty dreamy Ravel-on-the-backroad scores are particular faves of mine.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: In honor of Smith's current residence, La Canadiense: pour 2 oz. Canadian Whiskey, 1 oz. Joven Tequila, and 1/2 oz. Maple Syrup, with 1 dash each of apple bitters and old-fashioned bitters, into a cocktail shaker WITHOUT ice. Add the peel of 1/2 of an orange. Muddle. Pour into double Old Fashioned glass over ice.
