No less than George Lewis programs a concert by the expert Ensemble Modern of music by contemporary African-derived composers, including among many others Alvin Singleton (NOW this splendid sorta-Minimalist is getting the concert time he's long deserved!) and Jessie Cox (exciting as hell).

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Americano: pour 1-1/2 oz. each of Campari and sweet Vermouth into an Old Fashioned glass over ice. Top with soda water. Garnish with an orange slice.
