A big night for List readers (or at least the List writer). Major List faves the Balliet Brothers, Brad and Doug, reset Schubert's great accidental song cycle Schwanengesang. Another List fave composer, Katherine Balch, looks at Schumann's Dichterliebe song cycle from a female perspective (although Your Compiler, an insane fan of Dichterliebe, can't help noting that Schumann wrote that song cycle, now almost always sung by men, for a female singer to begin with) (not that Schumann and text poet Heinrich Heine can be assumed to have any idea of the female perspective). There'll be a performance of OG Dichterliebe to cap it all off. And the able list of singers includes two more solid List faves, Molly Netter and Karim Sulayman (not to take away from the others)!

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Grandfather: pour 1 oz. each of Bourbon and Laird's Bonded Apple Brandy and 1 oz. sweet Vermouth, with 2 dashes each of Angostura and Peychaud's bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe. Garnish with a cocktail cherry.
