Rhizome DC presents an evening of experimental vocal music focusing, as you'd expect, on artists from DC. But best of all is a ringer from New York: Anaïs Maviel, who inflects her extended vocal music with the tones of her native Haiti, with results that are personally affecting in a way you might not expect from experimental music.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Rhum Sour: rim an Old Fashioned glass with sugar. Pour in 6 oz. of Rhum Barbancourt (I won't tell anyone if you use an Agricole instead) and 3/4 oz. lime juice, with 3 dashes of Peychaud's bitters, over ice. Stir.
