Ace flautist Emi Ferguson and her band take the perception that Baroque ensembles are structured like rock or jazz bands — melodic instruments on top with an unintegrated rhythm section below — and run with it. They run and run and run, in fact. You will not hear more vivacious Bach.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: It's getting nice out. Let's have a Foghorn: pour 2 oz. Gin, 1/2 oz. each of Cointreau and Lillet Blanc/Cocchi Americano, and 3/4 teaspoon of Absinthe into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into an iced Martini glass or coupe. Garnish with a lemon twist.
