No one has ever heard American experimentalist Alvin Lucier's I Am Sitting in a Room without having their mind blown. In the great tradition of experimental avant-garde triumphs, this exploration of the effects of room resonance on repeated rerecorded playbacks of a vocal recitation ought to be boring — except it isn't; you can't take your ears off it. And that's only the tip of the Lucier iceberg (here at the List, clichés R us). In celebration of Lucier's 90th birthday tomorrow, ISSUE presents a marathon concert lasting from 8 PM tonight all through the big day tomorrow, featuring what looks like just about everybody on the contemporary classical/new music scene. Lucier deserves no less.
