You want to dismiss the Kronos Quartet as relics. But while their World Music tendencies used to seem hippyish and appropriative, they now seem right on point. And a program like this, featuring along with the usual Kronos stuff such up-to-date faves as inti-figis vizueta, Missy Mazzoli, and Nicole Lizée (whom this Listener wishes would get played more in New York), shows they’re keeping it fresh. I do wish their string sound weren’t so wirey, though.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Really all I know that’s good near Caramoor is Bedford Post Inn. If any of you knows anywhere else good, please let me know.
