It’s no good for me to tweak Stephen Petronio for no longer being a young Punk. Cuz you know what? I’m not, either (next Tuesday I’ll become farther from young than ever). Anyway, if he continues to create churning roiling works — this one arises from the solo improvisations he did when stuck by himself during Lockdown, transcribed and transmitted to his dancers for use as base material to take off from — and to have accompanists like the great violinist Jennifer Koh improvising along with the dancers, I for one am not gonna complain.
