Dan Tepfer, an excellent pianist who abjures all notions of genre, does his thing where he improvises on Bach’s Two-Part Inventions.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: There’s a wine-and-cheese reception starting an hour before each show — but I never tire of complaining that, for the high price charged for these concerts, the abominable quality of the wine and the cheese is deplorable. In any event, good burgers at At The Wallace — but most exciting of all, I have it on good authority that the fried cheese curds are as good as in Wisconsin.
