BIG|BRAVE started out kind of folkie but they brought on the noise soon enough. Gnaw were noisy from the start — and have stayed that way for decades. The drums-violin duo of Kid Millions and Sarah Bernstein consistently fascinate — and keep things moving. Best of all, though, might be Otay:onni, who has a vivid theatrical conception and who leavens her noise with melody (indeed, melody derived from Chinese folk music).
