A sort of avant-Purimspiel (even if the run concludes a week before actual Purim) exploring the usual Purim themes of anti-Semitism and survival — although, this being Target Margin, it’s bound to be in a very indirectly suggestive and entertaining manner. (It’s a good thing David Herskovitz has emphasized that this work was formulated two years ago and does not purport to reflect, much less address, current events and concerns. Because Israel’s actions in Gaza problematicize the Biblical source here in a way that source fully deserves — but the piece doesn’t interrogate the source, rather just sticking it out there as if there’s nothing wrong. As it stands, it’s very hard at least for a Jew to walk out of this show feeling anything other than like complete shit.)
