Heartbeat Opera combines video excerpts of its lauded prisoners' production of Beethoven's opera Fidelio with performances of music by African-American composers. For those who like such things, each airing will be followed by a panel discussion of a different sociopolitical issue related to the piece.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Glasgow: pour 2 oz. blended Scotch, 1 oz. dry Vermouth, and 1 teaspoon of Absinthe, with dash of Peychaud's bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Stir. Strain into a chilled Martini glass or coupe.
