London klezmer Ilana Cravitz has organized a global project where every evening a Klezmer fiddler from somewhere in the world plays a half-hour program of nigunim, wordless Jewish song, here rendered instrumentally. This evening's featured violinist is New York's own Alicia Svigals, who this List never tires of saying is not just one of the best Klezmer musicians in the world, but one of the best musicians, period.
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: It would be very hard to avoid recommending David Wondrich's Jewish Absinthe with this: pour 2 oz. Bourbon (preferably Old Williamsburg 101 Proof — cuz it's Kosher and made in Williamsburg) and 1/2 oz. Anisette, along with 8-10 mint leaves, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker, shake, and strain into whatever kind of glass you'd use to drink Absinthe.
